- Character: Raoul (Viscount Raoul de Chagny)
- Fandom: Phantom of the Opera
- Reason for Being Hated: He’s in the way of the Phantom/Christine ship. So fandom basically invents an asshole personality for him (at best vain and stupid, at worst an alcoholic who abuses Christine) and then they judge him on that rather than his canon portrayal. Made worse when Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote him as such for “Love Never Dies.” Also, Raoul is nobility, and rich = evil!
i am so sick of the fighting in this fandom. out of all the fandoms, you’d think that for one based on a story with a central theme of love and hope and faith, people would have better attitudes. the personal attacks need to stop. the bishop would be ashamed of us. tolerance and acceptance, and love, not hate.
Every fandom fights. This is not new; not one fandom is immune.

when i watched norm lewis’ javert, i felt like he did exactly what drew sarich did with enjolras: make up a completely new character that isn’t related to the original at all.

the enjolras waistcoat is possibly the sexiest piece of clothing ever put on stage.

30 playsAll I Ask of You - Marie Danvers & Michael Shawn Lewis
My favorite Raoul <3 (have I said that, yet?).
Yes, reblogging my own post. Because Michael.
He’s so cute, I can’t stand it.
my friend and i are convinced that the reason norm lewis’ javert was subpar was because his mutton-chops simply weren’t big enough.
Pbbbbt. Subpar, my foot.
